Pre-Treatment Instructions — Peak Skin & Wellness Center
Prepare for
Your Best Results
What you do before your appointment matters. Following these guidelines helps protect your skin, minimize risk, and set the foundation for the best possible outcome from your treatment. Please review the instructions for your specific service below. If you have any questions or concerns before your visit, our team is always happy to help.
General Pre-Treatment Guidelines — All Services
These guidelines apply to most treatments at Peak Skin & Wellness Center unless otherwise noted by your provider:
Arrive to your appointment with clean skin — free of makeup, lotion, sunscreen, and fragrance on the treatment area. Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment, as hydrated skin responds better to most treatments. Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks prior to any laser, RF, or resurfacing treatment. If you have a history of cold sores, please notify our team before any facial treatment — antiviral medication may be recommended. Let us know about any new medications, supplements, or health changes since your last visit.
Cosmetic Injectables — Botox, Dysport, Dermal Fillers, Sculptra, and PRP
To minimize bruising and swelling and support a smooth treatment experience, please follow these steps in the days before your injectable appointment.
Starting 7 days before your appointment, avoid blood-thinning supplements and medications where possible, including fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, ibuprofen, and NSAIDs (unless prescribed by your physician — always consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medication). Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours before your appointment, as alcohol thins the blood and increases bruising risk. Come to your appointment well hydrated and having eaten a light meal beforehand. If you are prone to bruising, arnica supplements may be started a few days in advance — ask our team for guidance. Avoid any waxing, bleaching, or skin treatments on the treatment area for at least 2 days prior.
RF Microneedling — Scarlet SRF and Agnes RF
To prepare your skin for RF microneedling and support optimal healing, please follow these instructions.
Avoid retinol, tretinoin, AHAs, BHAs, and active skincare ingredients for at least 5 to 7 days before your appointment. Do not use any exfoliating scrubs, chemical peels, or abrasive treatments for 1 week prior. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds for 2 weeks before treatment, and come to your appointment with SPF-free, clean skin. Discontinue blood-thinning supplements and alcohol as noted in the injectables section above. Notify our team if you have any active breakouts, skin infections, or open wounds in the treatment area, as your appointment may need to be rescheduled for your safety.
Laser Resurfacing — NOUVADerm and PLADUOpro Plasma
Laser and plasma resurfacing treatments require a slightly more involved preparation to protect your skin and ensure the safest, most effective results.
Avoid all sun exposure and tanning — including self-tanner — for a minimum of 2 weeks before treatment. Your skin must not be actively tanned at the time of your appointment. Discontinue retinoids, tretinoin, and active exfoliants at least 7 days prior. If you have a history of cold sores or fever blisters, let us know — antiviral prophylaxis is recommended before any resurfacing treatment. Avoid waxing, electrolysis, or depilatory creams in the treatment area for 2 weeks prior. Arrive to your appointment with clean, product-free skin. For more intensive resurfacing sessions, arrange for a ride home in advance.
Laser Hair Removal and IPL Photofacial
Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment — do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams for at least 4 weeks prior, as the hair follicle must be intact for laser treatment to be effective. Avoid sun exposure and tanning of the treatment area for 4 weeks before your session. Arrive with clean, dry skin free of lotion, deodorant, or any topical products. Inform our team of any recent skin changes, medications, or history of photosensitivity.
Hair Restoration — DERIVE, NOUVADerm, and AquafirmeXS
Arrive with a clean scalp free of styling products, dry shampoo, and treatments. Avoid scalp massage devices or aggressive scalp stimulation for 48 hours before your session. Inform our team of any scalp conditions, recent chemical treatments, or hair loss medications you are currently taking, as these may affect your treatment plan.
IV Therapy
Eat a light meal and drink plenty of water before your IV session. Avoid coming in on an empty stomach. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing with easy access to your arm. Let our team know about any allergies, current medications, or recent health changes before your infusion.
Medical Weight Loss — GLP-1 Consultations and Injections
Come to your initial consultation prepared to share a complete health history, including current medications, prior weight loss attempts, and any relevant medical conditions. If you have a follow-up injection appointment, maintain your usual eating and hydration routine beforehand. Report any side effects or changes in how you are feeling between appointments — our team is here to support you through every stage of your journey.
Label
EM-Flex Muscle Stimulation
Avoid eating a heavy meal within 2 hours of your session. Stay well hydrated. Remove all metal jewelry from the treatment area. Let our team know about any metal implants, pacemakers, or health conditions before your first session, as EM-Flex is contraindicated for certain individuals.
Aquafirme Facials and Exosome Treatments
Arrive with clean skin. Avoid retinoids and active exfoliants for 48 hours before your facial. If receiving an exosome facial as a post-procedure recovery treatment, follow any specific instructions provided by your provider at your prior appointment.
